A Bubble Story

Well...I have news....I'm pregnant...About 17 weeks along, due August 10th. We waited so long to say anything because it was a rather big surprise. It certainly was not planned, because if I would have had my way I would have not gotten pregnant until August (and not this August either, maybe 2 or 3 Augusts from now) because I have a major issues with heat. I hate being hot and never wanted to be pregnant during the summer time, but sometimes people forget to go to Wal-Greens and pick up that all important prescription...and things happen. We don't have any immediate plans to get married, we're just going to take it one day at a time. We'll put on our big girl and big boy pants and deal with it.

What's its like being pregnant:
Shawn and I (despite the timing) are very excited. My first trimester was a breeze! I had ZERO morning sickness. Seriously, I never threw up one time! I would occasionally feel nauseous but nothing ever came of it. The worst symptom I had was just being tired a lot, but I took afternoon naps so it wasn't that bad. I didn't gain any weight, my appetite didn't seem to increase. I was even like "Uh are we sure I'm pregnant?" Then one late night I got up to pee (which I did notice I did A LOT) and I noticed that my belly was a little rounder and then it seemed after that night every day my belly got bigger and bigger and rounder. It was getting pretty hard to keep it under wraps.

So now I'm in my 2nd trimester and I feel really great. I still have headaches a lot but I noticed I get them if I haven't eaten or had any water. I even think I've felt the baby move a few times. It feels like a "swooshing" feeling it's pretty cool. I do still pee all the time to the point that I'm seriously considering buying Depends! We haven't found out what it is yet, but I have a sneaky suspicion it's a boy. I've started planning the nursery which I think is going to be really adorable. I have 5 months left and I because I so desperately want to meet the baby I'm really nervous we may not have enough time to move like we planned and get everything set up.

We just had our first Doctors appointment today...I know like 10 weeks late. But like I said it took us about 8 weeks to realize what the heck we had gotten ourselves into. So we heard the baby's heart beat today and it was amazing! I was nervous at first because I couldn't hear it and then my Doctor found it and I almost started crying. I was like "Wow, he's (becaus I think its a boy) really in there. Like really!" We couldn't get a sonogram appointment until next week. But just hearing the heart beat was heaven!

Shawn's been really, really great the whole time. He talks to the baby every night and before he leaves for work. At even the slightest grimace of my face he's at my side trying to make me a little "nest" on the couch. If I stir in the middle of the night he's up ready to go get my anything (usually food) and has offered several times to run to the store at like 3 in the morning. It's getting harder to find a comfortable position to sleep in. It feels really weird to sleep on my belly, all the books say not to sleep on your back, but I find that to be the most comfortable. But for the sake of the little bubble I try and get comfortable on my side.

Well that's it for now...It seems like I need to pee again so I should go.

Things I've learned

Shawn and I have been living together now for about 8 months. And I am now finally able to understand why my parents would flip their lids over things. Here is a short list of some of the things that used to bug my parents and now bug the crap out of me:

1. Using tons of paper towels:
When I lived at home I would use like 3 or 4 paper towels at a time for ANY thing! Drying my hands, wiping the counter, drying dishes, whatever. My mom used to yell at me ALL the time. Now I know why. I swear I feel like I'm buying paper towels every other day!

2. Putting stuff in it's place in the kitchen:

Growing up I was lucky enough that my family had a housekeeper most of my life so the kids didn't have very many chores. But the one chore we always had was cleaning the kitchen up after dinner. My dad was the "cook" in my house and would flip because he could never find the right cooking apparatus when he needed it. I now realize why it is so important to put things away where they go in the kitchen. When your in the kitchen dicing and sauteing and you need a garlic press you don't have time to search for it. It needs to be right where it belongs, but sometimes those people who clean up after dinner, just put stuff anywhere!

3. Shoes in the hallway:
My mom used to have a "shoe basket" that guests could put their shoes in, well of course we used it and abused it and 10 people times 2 pairs a shoes each can add up! My mom used to threaten to throw the shoes on the lawn, and come to think of it, she did! The people I live with love to leave allllllll of their shoes up front. So annoying

4. "Uh, Have you seen my......":
My mom would always respond "I don't wear it/use it/read it/etc. How would I know?" It's annoying question that I swear I hear all the time.

5. I clean up and then you mess up!:
I clean all the time, everyday. Yet 10 minutes after I've scrubbed the sink clean, someone needs to shave, or make 5 PB&J sandwiches and leave the stuff all over. But we've come to an agreement here. We are moving in May so I feel I've put in my dues, so I've requested a house cleaner, and will be getting one. So I'll tough it out for another 3 months.

These are just a few things that I now understand why my parents would flip so much. Don't get me wrong. I love the people that I live with and they do help out a lot, but ya know every once in awhile things can get annoying.

Been away for awhile

It seems like forever since I last posted. Here in our land we are still riding the high of the Missy Elliott single. The video premiered this week on MTV and BET. It was an especially exciting premiere because it was the first ever 3-D music video. Watching TRL and hearing the song was very exciting for me, and I can only imagine how Shawn was feeling. The song continues to climb the charts! It debuted this week on The Billboard Hot 100 at #83. And on Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop it's #29 up four spots from last week. The album for Step it Up 2 came out Tuesday...go pick it up!! Ching A Ling is still being talked about as being on her album, which comes out in May so make sure you get that too!

Patiently waiting for spring! For the last 2 days it was like 70 and now it's dropped back to 40 today and its going to hit like 28 on Sunday......UGH!!!!!!!!!

Spring hurry up!!!!!!!!
