Baked Potatoes!!!

I just had the most delicious lunch and must share it with everyone else. Follow the recipe to a T!

Baked Potato
Wash the potato
Rub canola oil on it
Season the outside with kosher salt
Wrap in aluminum foil
Bake in 350 degree oven over for 1 hour
Add a pat of butter to each side and salt and pepper.

OMG soooo good. I have these phases I go through with food. Months ago I was all into baked potatoes. Then it faded simply because we stopped buying them. Well today the kitchen's kind of empty because we stopped doing those massive 2 week grocery trips and now we go to the grocery store like every day for the days needs. So annoying, don't really know why we do it, but we do. Anyway so not much in there and I was like "Oh I have 2 little potatoes!" so that's what I made, and man oh man they were soooo good. I think I'm going to have to go to the story and buy more and I think that's going to be my lunch and dinner for the next week or weeks!!!

Surreal

Whew! What a week it's been! This is all still such a surreal feeling. Friday afternoon Shawn and I were out and about 2 minutes before we got to our destination I started telling some random story (as always) and he was like "Alex!!" and he turns the radio all the way up and sure enough it was the song! It was crazy! We were screaming and laughing and then all of a sudden one of the greatest rappers out comes on....JAY Z! That was the icing on the cake Jay Z on The Arkitects song. It was amazing. And then after that we heard the song 3 more times in an hour on other stations and later that night heard it again like 5! Every day since Friday we hear it at least 3 times when we are in the car. We hear they are even playing it now on Hot 97 in NY.

Every time it comes on I just sit there and think "Wow, our lives are changing right now" It's weird and exciting all at the same time. 13 days into the New Year and look at what God has done. It's been such a hard year in every area of life you can imagine and it's like God is saying "I haven't forgotten you" I am so excited for what this will do for Shawn's career and I'm so excited about what opportunities this will afford our family.

Remember CALL AND REQUEST IT!!!

More good news!

This morning we were once again greeted with very exciting news....

I'm still sleeping and I here heavy footsteps running down the hall as Shawn runs into the room and says...."Perez Hilton has the song!" and sure enough he did and he loved it! Unfortunately some of the people who left comments didn't like it, but that's ok. Not everyone is going to love it. Obviously someone at Atlantic Records thinks it's going to be hot, so they are pushing it hard! We also found out yesterday that the video was just wrapped up and should be ready for air any day. Remember call radio and request it!!!

Listen To This: Call Her Irish Spring
Filed under: Listen To This > Missy Elliot

Missy Elliot done some things here and there, but she's been gone from the solo scene for a while.

No more!

The rapper/producer has finally dropped her new single, Ching A Ling. And it's hot!

It's typical Missy, what we've come to expect from her.

Hey, if ain't broke, don't fix it.

Enjoy the song below!

The Single! Ching A Ling!

Here's Shawn's new single with Missy Elliott. Shawn found it this morning after his run and we all came out and started listening to it and dancing. It was very exciting to see all the comments and stuff over the internet. About 25% of comments we found were of people not really liking it, but the ones that didn't like it didn't like Missy's rap or verses which is all her. But all press is good press right? The consensus was that the beat (music) was hot. One blogger thought it was Swizz Beats, but rest assure, it is The Arkitects. I am so excited for them! So as soon as you start hearing it on the radio which will be any minute REQUEST IT REQUEST IT REQUEST IT!

Into the New Year

Happy New Year! This post may be a bit longer then usually but I'm going to try my damnedest to keep it short, which is kind of hard for me because I am very, very, long winded...

So New Years Eve Shawn and I agreed to help my grandparents chaperon my brother Troy's party at my parents house which ended up being really laid back and we had zero problems with him and his friends. I am proud to say that Troy has very good judgement and his friends were great! I think they were a little annoyed at my constant presences but I was trying to do my job! Well right before mid-night Shawn and I we ended up watching Mr. Brooks in the theater room. Well right at mid-night when Shawn kissed me the lights went out! All of Troy's friends started acting crazy and I started freaking out. So we head upstairs to make sure my grandparents, Juli and little Shawn were ok and after about 15 minutes the lights still hadn't come back on. Then all of a sudden I start hearing shots which sounded like gunshots coming from various parts in the community. It really weirded me out because 1. We were in the middle of watching a pysco killer movie and 2. Hearing gunshots in my parents neighborhood is highly unusual. So I start freaking out and making the two little kids get away from the windows because I thought we were seriously about to be murdered. My Gannie kept saying to me that people shoot guns at midnight which I had never heard of. So then Juli and Shawn (who are both 6) are sitting in the corner and Juli can tell I'm scared so she gets scared and little Shawn says to her "Don't worry Julianna no ones going to kill you" I was like "Way to comfort her Shawn!". Eventually I ended up calming down and the lights came back on about and hour and a half later. So that's how I rang in the new year...

In other EXCITING news about and 1 hour ago Shawn got a call from his manager saying that the song they did with Missy Elliott was officially picked up as a single and would be hitting the radio any day now! We are thrilled beyond on belief! I am so excited for Shawn, every time I think about it I want to cry because I know how hard he's worked for something like this. This one single could catapult him and his partner to where they want to be. Up there with Timbaland, Pharrell, Kanye, all the greats! He tells a story of meeting Wyclef shortly after he moved to NY in 2001 and he said to him "Count 7 years after you sell your first record and that's when it will happen" and it's been (almost) exactly 7 years since his first song was sold (On the Cradle 2 The Grave soundtrack). We haven't heard the song yet but right now we are just praying that it does well. I think the song is called Ching A Ling but I'm not exactly sure, but it's by Missy Elliott. It will be on the Step it up 2 soundtrack and in the movie, so call and request it at your radio stations and by the soundtrack!!
